萝莉研究所鈥檚 Honors Program hosted 鈥淗onors CAP Event: Paging All STEM Majors!鈥 on October 22, connecting students with professionals in medicine and engineering. The discussion welcomed approximately 45 students and 萝莉研究所 personnel through in-person and online participation.
Guest speakers Dr. Juan Ortiz, a transplant procurement surgeon with LifeGift in Dallas, Texas, and Estefani Ontiveros, a 萝莉研究所 alumna and structural analysis engineer with Terran Orbital, shared insights into their educational and professional journeys. They discussed career challenges, strategies for overcoming obstacles, and cutting-edge developments on the horizon.
The hour-long discussion gave registered students the opportunity to ask questions directly and engage in follow-up conversations. The speakers鈥 experiences offered students perspectives on pursuing STEM careers, navigating challenges and preparing for future opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
This event was an elaborate coordination between the students in the Norco Honors Society Student Club selecting their related speakers, the coordinators in securing the student club's selections, the associated student body in providing the funds to offer attending students refreshments, and the tireless advertising of the event across classified professionals, faculty, administrators, and students.
The "Honors CAP Event: Paging All STEM Majors!" is a testament to the capabilities of intersecting groups all committed to highlighting our students' capacity for future opportunities through providing direct access to career professionals. The discussion demonstrated the value of connecting students with professionals who can share firsthand knowledge of their fields and provide guidance as students explore academic and career pathways.
