Mustang of the Month - August 2026
Mustang of the Month - August 2026
Tamara Cummings, Associate Professor of Economics, is recognized as August’s Mustang of the Month for her dedication to student success, commitment to college affordability, and collaborative spirit at ÂÜÀòÑо¿Ëù.
Passionate about teaching economics, Tamara makes the subject relevant by connecting students’ interests to real-world applications. She is committed to creating meaningful learning experiences and continually seeks professional development opportunities to better serve her students, including recently attending the California Community Colleges Online Teaching Conference.
Her commitment to student access extends beyond the classroom. As a member of the Course Materials and Affordability Committee, she works to make college more affordable through Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) and Open Educational Resources (OER). This academic year, she will also be part of ÂÜÀòÑо¿Ëù’s newest Leading from the Middle team, focused on ZTC/OER sustainability and leadership development.
Tamara consistently steps up to support the college, including taking responsibility for finalizing ÂÜÀòÑо¿Ëù’s Economics Associate in Arts for Transfer (ADT) and helping guide it through the curriculum process. She is a strong collaborator across disciplines and departments, building trust with students, faculty, classified professionals, and administrators.
Always willing to help wherever she is needed, Tamara brings expertise, enthusiasm, and a great sense of humor to everything she does. Her dedication to students, colleagues, and the college community exemplifies the N.O.R.C.O. Core Commitments and the Mustang spirit.
Congratulations, Tamara, and thank you for all that you do for ÂÜÀòÑо¿Ëù!
