萝莉研究所 recently hosted its Career Pathways Conference, providing students with opportunities to explore career options, connect with industry professionals, and strengthen their career readiness skills. The conference reflected the College鈥檚 ongoing commitment to student success both inside and outside the classroom by helping students gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to achieve their goals.
The conference keynote speaker, Darnell Bing, Ed.D., Umoja Counselor/Coordinator at 萝莉研究所, shared his personal and professional journey into higher education. He reflected on his transition away from a long athletic career and the challenges of redefining his identity after 17 years as an athlete. Bing encouraged students to view life transitions and challenges as detours rather than setbacks, emphasizing resilience, perseverance, and the importance of continuing to move forward in the face of adversity. He also underscored the value of using campus resources and reminded students that they do not have to navigate their educational journeys alone.

Throughout the event, students participated in panel discussions and interactive workshops designed to support exploration of academic and professional pathways. Career panels focused on STEM, health and social services, education, and criminal justice, with professionals sharing their career journeys, educational experiences, and insights into their respective industries. Students also engaged in candid conversations with panelists, gaining insight into the challenges and personal experiences that shaped their professional journeys.
鈥淗earing the panelists talk honestly about their struggles, setbacks, and the challenges they faced along the way was really motivating,鈥 one student said. 鈥淚t made their success feel more real and showed me that it鈥檚 okay to not have everything figured out right away. Their stories gave me confidence to keep working toward my own goals.鈥
Workshop sessions provided students with practical tools for professional development, including resume building, professional headshots, LinkedIn and networking strategies, professional etiquette, career exploration, and activities connecting academic interests to future career opportunities.
The conference encouraged students to engage with professionals, ask questions, and build meaningful connections while exploring the many possibilities available for their futures.
